Adding a little class to the tri-state area and looking for cheap cigarettes.
Hmmm. Is there an echo in here? I think I'm having a Deja Vu, main. The lower sign is the newer one. You can find this setup on US 209 in the Town of Warwarsing, north of Ellenville in Ulster County.
Port Jervis/Cheap Cigarette Junket
Use this spiffy map to help you locate the next few snaps.
A rare mast arm signal at the junction of Orange County Road 15 and US 6 in Port Jervis-just north of IH 84 junction 1.
Signs at the state line on NJ 23/Orange County 15. OrCo 15 is about 1/3 mile long, by the way.
A pretty graphical representation of the state line, I'd say. The lower pavement is NJ 23, the higher, OrCo 15. Notice how close the IH 84 junction is. This was a rare car-free moment. Gas in NJ was $1.03 at this point in time and there were loads of cars queueing at the Citgo station just south of this point.
Lest you forget, PA is only just over the bridge on IH 84. Here are the Guide Signs that are just west of the overpass of OrCo 15. There are actually about 5 iterations of the "Exit 1" sign with a variety of sheilds, but I wasn't going to get up on the IH 84 to get them all :P . Check out the left sign: the main part is NYSDOT, but the EXIT plate and "OLD EXIT 11" are PennDOT.
"One of these things is not like the others" to quote Sesame Street. The off font on the NYS 97 pops up around the area now and again. The 209 sign got sideswiped(ow)- that happens when you post the signs too damn close to the edge of the road :)
If you follow this sign yer not gonna be in New York....
A railway bridge just south of Port Jervis. The headroom is 12'8". I liked the overhead sign just before the overpass.
