Life through my windshield. Bugs and all.

NY 213 End

Here's the Kingston end of NY 213 at Broadway and Henry Streets. This is an odd end, since it's not a state highway junction-Broadway used to be NY 28, but that was before the 9W bypass opened many moons ago. So now the eastern end of NY 213 just kinda poots out in the middle of nowhere. NY 213 is kinda convoluted anyway, as the map below shows.

4-way on a mast arm

Here's a relatively new 4-way light mounted on an even more modern mast arm. This is the only signal for this intersection-Hasbrouck Ave. and East Chester Street in Kingston.

Woefully Inadequate

Okay, if a light goes out on this signal what do you do? Have a guess and take your chances, I suppose. The cross traffic at this junction gets green both ways, by the way. This is Foxhall, Shufeldt Street(left) and Grand Street(right) in Kingston.

NJ 9W

No, this is not a New Jersey sign error. These are signs on Grant Street leading up to the US 9W in the Town of Ulster by the old IBM plant complex("Tech City") north of Kingston. I think IBM posted these signs.

I Hate This Signal

I hate this signal at Flatbush Rd(NY 32) and East Chester Street in Kingston. That green light will last about 2 seconds. This time I was close enough to catch it.  The cabinets on the lights are all torn up, too. At the very least they need repainted. If I had any say in it, I'd tear it all down and replace it with new "dog house" lights(arf arf: The schnäuzers rilly dig "dog house" lights). During Hurricane Floyd, this light was really weird. The left arrows and the red lights were lit all 4 ways and the yellow lights were flashing. People had enough sense to treat the intersection as a 4-way stop.
